GOLF COURSE

The Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course is the oldest most scenic and stimulating golf course in Pakistan and traces its origin to the 19th century and expresses a continuity and acceptance second to none. It is an 18 holes championship course, with a par 72 and a yardage of 6444. Spread over 85 acres, this sprawling golf course is located in the heart of the City of Lahore. Every hole is tree lined and to add to the challenge are 65 bunkers, out of bounds on six holes and water hazards on five holes. Fairways are perfectly manicured and the greens reflect a perfect role, some of them undulating. Indeed the playing conditions reflect excellence and for the golfers who want to do well, the challenges are there and only through consistency and exhibition of golfing skills can a competitor hope to come up with good scores.

It has hosted many international tournaments and quite a few leading international players have won laurels while competing at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course. The club house is modern and the 19th hole offers the best in hospitality.

FACILITIES

  • The Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course is spread over 85 acres.
  • It has 18 holes with five par 5’s, eight par 4’s and 5 par 3’s.
  • Green area occupies 98 % of the golf course.
  • The practice area is located next to the golf club house and consists of 18 bays. Also attached is a practice green for honing your putting skills.
  • As for coaching, the professional golf players associated with this club are readily available to teach new entrants and also help others who need expert advice on certain aspects of the game.

RESTAURANT

  • The restaurant allied with the Golf Course caters for snacks related needs of members. While club sandwiches are considered a delight, other items that are most popular are vegetable and cheese sandwiches, french fries and of course the traditional pakoras.
  • Tea and coffee provide the ecstatic touch prior to the start of a golfing round and close of the golfing round and around such sitting revolves some really lively and energizing moments.
  • In case the golf members opt for enriched meals, they can always depend on the main restaurants of the club where menus are more wholesome.
  • Restaurant of the golf club is open from early morning to late in the evening.
  • Dress code is smart casual and sports related.

CORPORATIZATION

This a new initiative to attract sponsors by offering them to become associates of the golf club .A start has been made and we have offered advertisement rights to Berger Paints. In return for paying us Rs 5.5 million ,the sponsor has been allowed to display their name on all tees from hole number one to hole number nine. The money thus raised will be spent on development of the golf course.

EVENTS

  • Regular tournaments are a feature of the competitive golfing activity at the Gymkhana Golf Course. National level tournaments for amateurs include Millat Tractors Governors Cup Golf Tournament, Punjab Amateur Golf Tournament, Quaid e Azam Golf Championship and once every four years the National Amateur Golf Championship of Pakistan is held here.
    As for open golf tournaments, the one that stands out is the J.A.Zaman Golf Championship.
    Also held are nine tournaments that are open to members of Lahore Gymkhana only.
  • Upcoming events include Quaid e Azam Amateur Golf Tournament, J.A.Zaman Open Golf Championship besides many local events.
